About Abby

Hi there and welcome!

My name is Abby Egan. I’m the founder of NursingYourBaby.com and the author of the online video course "Abby Teaches Breastfeeding: A Practical Guide to Nursing Your Baby."

After graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2018, I spent the next 5 years working as a labor and delivery nurse in hospitals across the country. During this time, I also earned special certifications in obstetrics and electronic fetal monitoring. I worked in large hospitals and small, in big cities and on tiny islands. But that incredibly exciting and enlightening time led me to my permanent home in Michigan, where I met my wonderful husband. After only a short while, we were married, and a year later, we welcomed our first baby boy.

As a seasoned labor and delivery nurse, I was confident that breastfeeding was going to come easy to me. After all, I had spent countless hours educating and helping mothers breastfeed in the hospital. But, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Breastfeeding was very difficult for me at first, and there were times when I thought about quitting daily. I struggled with a painful latch, a colicky baby, severe sleep deprivation, bottle refusal - you name it. But we somehow persevered, and along the way, I learned so many valuable lessons - lessons you can only truly learn from experiencing it yourself.

That’s why I created NursingYourBaby.com to help teach new and expectant mothers not only the basic knowledge and skills necessary to breastfeed but also the practical wisdom that can only be learned through experience. It was after breastfeeding my first baby that I decided to merge my love of teaching with my love of breastfeeding and earn my Lactation Educator certification so that I could teach other moms all that I had learned. Because I get it. I’ve seen it all, and I’ve been there too.

To me, there is no job in the world or joy in this life greater than being a wife and a mom. Of all my accomplishments, these two are certainly the most remarkable and rewarding. It was my love of family that led me to my career in labor and delivery and now to my position as a lactation educator. I firmly believe that breastfeeding is one of the best gifts you can give your child, and I can’t wait to share this course with you so you can discover it for yourself. Let’s work on nursing your baby together.

Happy nursing! :)
